a seeking god
Some people picture God as far away - watching from a distance, waiting for us to measure up before He pays attention. But the story of the Bible tells a different story: a God who draws near first.
god comes to you
Throughout the Bible, we meet people who weren’t looking for God, yet He came looking for them.
Adam and Eve hid in shame, but God sought them and called them out of hiding.
Abraham was comfortable and established when God invited him to step into a new promise.
The disciples were simply working their jobs when Jesus walked by and said, “Follow me.”
A woman known for her sins met Jesus one day and walked away forgiven and changed.
Different lives, different stories, but the same pattern: God comes close first.
how people respond
Every person’s response was different. Adam and Eve were ashamed. Abraham trusted and obeyed. The disciples hesitated, then followed. The woman found freedom and peace.
Some came quickly. Others slowly. Yet God met each one with patience, love, and understanding.
That same God meets us, too. He doesn’t wait for us to clean up or get it right. He meets us right where we are - whether that’s in our fear, our success, our questions, or our failures.
when you don’t know what to say
You don’t need perfect words or a spotless past to reach out to God. He’s already reaching for you. All relationships begin with a simple hello - and so does this one.
Maybe your “hello” looks like a quiet thought, a whispered prayer, or simply an openness to see where He might be at work in your life. Wherever you are, He’s there too.
take this with you
“The lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” - psalm 145:18
Even when you feel far from God, He’s closer than you think.
questions for reflection
Where do you feel distant from God right now?
What might it look like for you to simply say “hello” to Him this week?
Can you remember a time when God met you right where you were?
